TAFI ties up with Sarovar for special rates for members

Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) has done a special tie-up with Sarovar Hotels across India for offering special hotel rates to TAFI members. An initiative by the TAFI Hotels & Resorts Committee, the tie up will allow members to sell inventory of these hotels and resorts using these special rates for their clients. Jigar Dudakiya, Committee Representative, TAFI, says, “To use the facilities, TAFI members must have a TAFI logo and membership number on their email signature. The same will be verified and checked for authenticity by principals. Team TAFI is Pro-actively working to get more such deals to benefit their members.”

Softbank-backed Indian hotel aggregator Oyo Hotels seeks a valuation of upto $12 billion

Oyo Hotels have filed for a local listing, seeking a valuation of $10 billion to $12 billion that could be the first for a hospitality firm since 2019. The initial public offering (IPO) comes as travel restrictions are being alleviated worldwide and the tourism sector sees a rebound, with stuck-at-home people heading out on vacations. The offering will consist of a fresh issue of shares of up to 70 billion rupees and an offer for sale of as much as 14.30 billion rupees, as per a copy of its draft red herring.

Steve Borgia curated Tamil Nadu Police Museum opens in Chennai

The Tamil Nadu Police Museum at Egmore, Chennai, which has been curated by Steve Borgia, CMD, INDeco Hotels, has been opened to the public and was inaugurated by Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday. The museum is home to a number of artefacts, dating back to as many as 200 years. Some of the artefacts displayed in the museum have even been seized from sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, LTTE Prabhakaran. The building itself used to be the old Commissioner’s office of Chennai Police from 1856 to 2013. Now, the building was converted into a museum at the cost of Rs 6.47 crore. Steve Borgia, the curator of the state-of-the-art museum, stated that it is a commemorative way of appreciating the sacrifice by the state police force and their commendable job in maintaining law and order. “A miracle just happened. Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog has said that the travel, tourism and hospitality industry have to go digital and green to convert the crisis into opportunity. He highlighted that this is important for attracting capital as well as enhance valuation. Kant was addressing the hoteliers at the HICSA Hotel investment conference in Delhi. The global pandemic will demand radical changes the way businesses are operated. Europe will be putting rigorous restrictions on unsustainable travel beyond 2026.
