According to a Thomas Cook India report, Indians from tier-II cities are driving faster growth in the travel industry, exploring both domestic and international destinations. It credits this trend to rising discretionary spending and improved connectivity. Indian travellers’ holiday budgets have surged by 20-50 per cent compared to previous years, it added.

According to Skyscanner report, nearly 47 per cent of Indian travellers are choosing to experience live cricket matches over watching them on screens both domestically and internationally While 50 per cent are extending their match-day plans into short getaways, transforming their cricket pilgrimage into a perfect mix of sport and sightseeing.

Booking.com in its travel trends report revealed that 85% of Indian Gen Z travellers seek to travel solo while 69% are likely to travel with family members and 61% with their parents this year. They are budget-conscious with 71% opting to travel outside peak season to save money.

Airbnb in its latest data on India-Thailand travel trends revealed that between 2022 and 2023, bookings in Thailand by Indian guests on Airbnb increased more than 60 per cent year-on-year. This surge in travel interest on Airbnb is driven by India’s changing demographics and a new, more travel-inclined younger generation, with Gen Z and Millennial Indian guests accounting for 80 per cent of bookings in 2023. According to Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports, India is the fifth largest inbound market for Thailand.

According to Allied Market Research report, the global travel credit card industry generated $16.4 billion in 2022 and is anticipated to generate $48.5 billion by 2032, witnessing a CAGR of 11.8% from 2023 to 2032. Rising demand for travel related awards is a key growth factor.

After releasing a report ‘Travel Trends: Redefining value through experience in 2024’, Skyscanner stated that films and entertainment have an impact on Indians. As per the report, 94 per cent of them inclined to take a trip to a destination after watching a film.
