The state cabinet approved the Haryana Registration and Regulation of Travel Agents Bill 2024 draft, with the clause that a person has to obtain a registration certificate to operate as a travel agent in the state. The bill aims to regulate travel agents who deceive people into illegal immigration.

VisitBritain’s first trade aims to display Britain as a prime destination. Destination Britain India, taking place in Delhi from 19-21 November, will gather British suppliers and 75 Indian buyers for business interactions, featuring travel partners from across Britain.

Hahn Air already added 12 new partner airlines to its growing network in the first half of 2023. Travel agents around the world can therefore offer additional travel options to their clients via their Global Distribution Systems (GDS). Five airlines formed an interline agreement with Hahn Air and are available under their own code in selected GDSs. This includes markets where they do not participate in local settlement systems (BSPs or ARC) or where they do not grant ticketing authority. Travel agents also benefit from being able to choose from additional payment options connected with the HR-169 ticket that the airlines do not offer with their own tickets. In addition, many partners are available for multi-airline ticketing even if they don’t have a contract with each other. Kimberley Long, Vice President Agency Distribution at Hahn Air pleased to provide travel trade with additional air content, thereby increasing their revenue. Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has announced that he will be launching a travel-tech business venture to digitally empower and build a travel agent business community in rural India. The launch is slated to take place virtually on August 6, 2021. Called Travel Union, it is an assisted travel business brand for rural India and has an App as well as a web portal. Travel Union promises to empower the rural audience by enabling them to do business at zero investment.

More than 200 travel agents pan-India took part in the ‘SingapoReimagine Virtual Experiences Familiarisation Day’ organised by STB on July 27 and 31. Featuring virtual experiences by Singapore Airlines, Singapore Zoo, Monster Tours and a masterclass by Brass Lion Distillery, the full-day event set new standards of how virtual experience engagement can be presented immersively and seamlessly.

Asia Travel Show (ATS), from March 15-16, will see select buyers from South Asia – India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh – in attendance. They will be a mix of travel agents, corporate and M!CE buyers, as well as wedding planners.
