Mamta Pall launches FootprintsWorldwide to represent hotels in India and abroad

Mamta Pall, with almost a 2-decade experience in the industry and having worked with some of the top travel companies and well-known hotel brands, has launched her own venture—FootprintsWorldwide. The company will not just offer end-to-end sales, marketing and PR solutions to boutique resorts / hotels / brands in India and overseas, but will also establish hotel products into the market from scratch, and position them on the basis of their unique features. Since Pall has a huge experience in this domain, she plans to build her portfolio gradually. There are already a few boutique properties under the portfolio, which include Desert Tulip Jaisalmer, 7 Hills Resort and Kings Paradise Kanatal, Uttarakhand. She soon plans to add international brands into her range of products.

ITDC participates in webinar organised by Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Post the ease in travel guidelines and resumption of domestic tourism, ITDC along with other industry leaders participated in a webinar organised by Indo Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ISCCI) to discuss the overview of tourism industry in Sri Lanka. G. Kamala Vardhana Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, ITDC joined the discussion along with other eminent dignitaries including Dr Krishna Kumar, Former Union Minister, Government of India, Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Loomba, PVSM, AVSM, Engineer Naseer Ahamed, Member, Parliament in Sri Lankan Parliament, Mr Dushan Wickramasuriya, Director Marketing of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and Mr Aamir Ali, ED, Sri Lanka Airlines. While delivering keynote address during webinar organized by Indo Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ISLCCI) on ‘An Overview of Tourism Industry in Sri Lanka’  C&MD, ITDC highlighted that there is a great potential for improving tourism and tourism related activities between India and Sri Lanka during COVID scenario.  He highlighted the importance of various products such as Buddhist circuit and Ramayana Circuit and mentioned the efforts made by Ministry of Tourism in promoting Indo Sri Lanka tourist relations and strengthening the eco system.  He also highlighted the potential growth in cruise tourism between Sri Lanka and India, Ayurveda and Yoga are the other significant areas of mutual cooperation.

HAI state chapters to deal state governments separately: KB Kachru

KB Kachru, Vice President, Hotel Association of India, has shared that they have created state chapters so that they can deal both at central level and state level. “We realised that we needed to have a better voice and we needed to be significant enough to make a difference. Keeping that in mind, we felt that we needed to deal both at central level and state level. Hence, we decided that in order to expand, we need to get more quality products, respective to the segment, whether it’s luxury hotels, first-class hotels, mid-market hotels, or good economy hotels, and make them part of us, so that we have right numbers and then work towards getting our due from different states because all of them have different policies. Hence, we established state chapters in different states,” he said.

IHG debuts Staybridge Suites® in India

IHG Hotels and Resorts has announced the debut of its extended-stay brand, Staybridge Suites® in India with the signing of Staybridge Suites Bengaluru Thanisandra. Signed as a management agreement in partnership with NR Greenwood Construction, the hotel is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2023. Staybridge Suites is IHG’s upscale extended-stay hotel brand which offers amenities such as a fully equipped kitchen in suites, a dedicated outdoor space, daily complimentary hot breakfast with signature items and an evening social event three nights a week.

Karnataka to accord Industry status to classified hotels

The Karnataka State Cabinet has approved the proposal to accord ‘Industry’ status to hotels and resorts classified or approved by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in Karnataka. The decision is expected to boost recovery of the hospitality sector through various benefits, including applicability of industrial tariff for electricity and property taxes.

Goa grew to be the RevPAR leader in absolute terms in Q4 2020: JLL

Goa grew to be the RevPAR leader in absolute terms, despite a decline of RevPAR by 33.3% in Q4 2020, making it the fastest recovering market in absolute terms. Jaideep Dang, MD, Hotels and Hospitality Group, South Asia, JLL, says, “We are already seeing signs of domestic business travel pick up in the new year. We expect that occupancies in business hotels to ramp up from March-April 2021 onwards.”
