Vitizen Hotels has launched VITS Park Maple Amritsar, the group’s first hotel in the city. The hotel is strategically located near Amritsar Junction Railway Station, adding to the convenience of both business and leisure tourists visiting the holy city. Announcing the launch, Vikram Kamat, Managing Director, Vitizen Hotels says, “We are delighted to launch our first property in Punjab in the sacred city of Amritsar that would enable us tap the growing potential of tourist inflow. InterContinental Hotels Group has partnered with SAMHI to rebrand approximately 2000 rooms (operating and under construction) within its India hotel portfolio, to Holiday Inn Express® hotels. The recently signed portfolio comprises 14 hotels, including 10 open hotels across key cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The additional four hotels are under construction. The signing sees IHG grow its pipeline by 41 hotels, positioning IHG as one of the largest players in India’s growing midscale hotel market. All hotels in the portfolio will be closed while they are being refurbished and upgraded with the latest design directives, to ensure the portfolio is fully representative of the Holiday Inn Express brand globally. The hotels will feature the next-generation design, several additional public areas and feature brand hallmarks to enhance guest service delivery.   Marriott International has launched the new Club Marriott in India, a leading dining loyalty programme that integrates three powerful dining loyalty segments—Club Marriott, Eat Drink & More and Star Privilege—into a single paid membership programme. The newly combined Club Marriott provides members with more choices and benefits whenever they dine out in their hometowns or visit one of the 250 participating hotels across 16 brands in 13 countries across the region. The new programme will be granting its members exclusive access to a diverse assortment of hotels that will furnish locally relevant benefits and dining options. Concept Hospitality has opened a 110-key property in Kolkata called The Fern Hotels & Resorts. Spread across 20 acres of landscape, the resort offers a host of activities such as rock climbing, rappelling, shooting and paddling. It offers rooms in five different categories. The property also has one of the largest banqueting facilities both indoors as well as outdoors. The indoor space is spread over 5,000 sq ft and is ideal for big conferences and cocktail dinners. The lawns occupy an area of 45,000 sq ft. Suhail Kannampilly, COO, Concept Hospitality, said, “We feel proud to announce the opening of Ibiza. This takes the tally of hotels managed by the company to 52. We are trying to consolidate our position in the eastern part of the country. InterGlobe Hotels (IGH) has acquired land at Hebbal, Bengaluru to build another ibis hotel in the city as part of a long-standing joint venture between AccorHotels and InterGlobe Hotels. Currently, IGH has 15 ibis hotels operational in India with ibis Pune Hinjewadi set to launch next month and ibis Kolkata launching early in 2018. With a total of seven hotels now under development and planning, IGH’s total inventory in India is projected to be 3,700 rooms by 2021. Shwetank Singh, VP Development & Asset Management, InterGlobe Hotels, said, “With this acquisition, we are marking our entry into one of Bengaluru’s established commercial hub – Hebbal. ibis Hebbal will be a perfect destination catering to both leisure and business needs. WelcomHeritage has launched its first farm-stay property, Ranjitvilas in Amritsar. The property has been developed and approved by the Punjab Heritage & Tourism Promotion Board under its Farm Tourism Scheme. Westin Hotels & Resorts, part of Marriott International, opened The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat, its eighth hotel in India. The property, featuring 314 guestrooms and suites, is located eight kilometres away from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. Neeraj Govil, Area Vice President, South Asia, Marriott International said, “The opening of the second Marriott hotel in Kolkata and the first under the Westin brand marks a great milestone for Marriott International. Royal Orchid Hotels has announced the opening of a hotel in Kanpur – Regenta Central The Crystal – taking the number of properties under Royal Orchid group  to 45. Located at the heart of the city, the hotel offers 44 rooms and three suites and is a 45-minute drive from Kanpur airport. Chander K. Baljee, Managing Director, Royal Orchid Hotels, said, “We have added four properties – Mysore, Ahmedabad, Dehradun and Kanpur – in the current financial year. We are on target to take the number of properties to 50 under the Royal Orchid Group before the end of this financial year. Marriott International has added another property to its portfolio in Indore with the opening of the 218-room Indore Marriott Hotel.
