Hotel bill of more than Rs20,000 to be declared for tax purposes

Under the newly-launched ‘Transparent Taxation’ platform announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 13, it has been proposed that hotel bill payments that exceed Rs20,000 will be liable to tax disclosure. The move is part of a tax overhaul by the government to widen the scope and reduce the threshold of various transactions for tax disclosure purposes.
