Vistara to fly Mumbai-Abu Dhabi daily non-stop

Vistara has announced non-stop flights between Mumbai and Abu Dhabi, UAE, starting 1 October 2022. The airline will operate daily flights between the two cities using its A320neo aircraft. Bookings for the flights are being progressively opened on all channels, including Vistara’s website, mobile app, and through travel agents. Vinod Kannan, Chief Executive Officer, Vistara, said, “We are delighted to expand our presence in the UAE, with a second Emirate, and offer the choice of flying India’s best airline on one of the busiest international routes from India. We are confident that greater connectivity between Mumbai and Abu Dhabi will complement the growing trade and tourism between the two countries. Vistara announces weekly flights to Tokyo from June 16

Indian carrier Vistara will fly to the Japanese capital Tokyo from New Delhi June 16 onwards. The weekly flight will depart from Delhi every Wednesday at 03:00 hrs, while the return flight will depart from Tokyo every Thursday at 17:50 hrs. The airline will fly once a week between the two capital cities under India’s travel bubble agreement with Japan. The airline will use its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with three-class cabin configuration to serve the route. This makes Vistara the only Indian carrier to offer the choice of flying Premium Economy class in addition to Business and Economy cabins. Vistara has also trained its cabin crew in the Japanese language to extend the warmth of true Indian hospitality to travellers from Japan. UK celebrates living bridge with India over cricket

To coincide with England’s ongoing cricket tour of India, Nijhawan Group, Travel Boutique Online (TBO) Group, Vistara, VFS Global and the UK government organised a cricket tournament at the Warriors Cricket Club in Gurugram. The tournament celebrated the unique living bridge of people who connect the UK and India, including through a shared love for sports and travel. The day saw 10-over matched played between four teams: The British High Commission Lions, and teams representing VFS Global, Vistara and the travel trade. A keen cricketer himself, British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, attended and played in the tournament. At the close of play, the Travel Trade Warriors team was declared winner.

Vistara launches daily flights to Sharjah from Delhi and Mumbai

Vistara has launched its daily services between Delhi and Sharjah, under the travel bubble agreement between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and from 24th January the airline will also fly daily between Mumbai and Sharjah. Vistara will deploy its A320neo aircraft with a three-class cabin configuration and enhanced features on the Delhi-Sharjah flight. SIA-Vistara deepen partnership

Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Vistara have signed a Commercial Cooperation Framework Agreement, which is an extension of a codeshare partnership that was established in 2017. Taking it a step forward, the new agreement would allow both airlines to achieve further synergies on services between Singapore and India, as well as in the key regions of South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. 2 out of 3 customers feel flying is safest way to travel

Sharing the results of their latest survey, Vinod Kannan, CCO, Vistara, revealed that 2 out of 3 (almost 67%) of customers have said that flying is the safest way to travel from one city to another. Only 13% have disagree. The survey titled, ‘Flyer behaviour and trends in the times of COVID-19’ also revealed that customers’ confidence to fly is increasing, with lesser fear of exposure during the journey or fellow Pax not following protocols.

NITI Aayog and MoCA discuss strengthening operations & augmenting recovery with aviation industry

The Empowered Group 6 (EG 6) constituted by Government of India and chaired by Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, held a meeting with business leaders from the aviation industry and Ministry of Civil Aviation to discuss possibilities for strengthening operations and augmenting the recovery of the aviation sector under the new normal. The meeting was also attended by Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation; Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), which covers the functioning of banks, financial institutions, insurance companies and the National Pension System; and representatives of airlines such as IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir, AirAsia, Vistara and Air India.

GoAir appoints Vistara’s ex-CSCO Sanjiv Kapoor as Advisor

Former Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer (CSCO) at Vistara, Sanjiv Kapoor has joined GoAir as Advisor. Kapoor’s career spans for over two decades with airlines in Asia, Europe, and the US as the investment advisor, portfolio manager, and management consultant. He will advise GoAir on important business and government matters. Before Vistara, Kapoor has also worked with SpiceJet as its Chief Operating Officer. Commenting on his appointment, Vinay Dube, Chief Executive Officer, GoAir said, “I welcome Sanjiv to the ever-growing GoAir family. His strong domain knowledge and deep expertise in the aviation sector will help GoAir in multiple ways.” Kapoor has an MBA in Strategic Management from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College, Hanover. The other companies he worked with include Northwest Airlines, Bain and Company, Temasek Holdings (Singapore), and BCG (the Boston Consulting Group), among others.

Domestic air traffic grows 3.8% in 2019, as compared to 18.6% in 2018

Domestic air passenger traffic grew to 14.41 crore in 2019, an increase of just 3.74 per cent compared to 2018, revealed Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).  The domestic air passenger traffic grew by 18.6 per cent to 13.89 crore in 2018. The decline in growth is attributed to the collapse of Jet Airways in April 2019. The passenger load factors of all major airlines – Air India, SpiceJet, GoAir, IndiGo, AirAsia India and Vistara. The domestic air passenger traffic in December 2019 increased by 2.56 per cent to 1.30 crore compared to the same month in 2018. In comparison, the growth in domestic traffic in November 2019 was 11.18 per cent.
