Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis unveiled a ₹350 crore plan to accelerate tourism in Vidarbha. The State govt will develop numerous facilities to augment tourism, generate employment in the region, and develop a tourism circuit including forest and water tourism sectors.

SIHRA has concluded its annual convention in Visakhapatnam with over 400 delegates in attendance. With senior hospitality professionals, growth in tier-II cities and sustainability remained key points of discussions. Industry experts focussed on new initiatives to enhance the sector in the region.

Kerala Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas said, “Kerala has become the first state in the country to come out with a comprehensive Heli-tourism policy. This initiative will help tourists in visiting multiple destinations in a single trip, making the state an inter-connected tourism hotspot.”

Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia commended the support provided by the Uttar Pradesh government in developing airports at a rapid rate. He announced that in this year Uttar Pradesh will have a total of 16 airports and this number will go up to 19 airports by 2025.

Bihar government has identified tourism as a priority sector and is implementing a series of infrastructural and business friendly reforms to encourage investments. Part of this is the new Bihar Tourism Policy 2023 which will be unveiled today by state CM and Tourism Minister in Patna with presence from representatives from hotel industry.

Applauding the Atal Setu project, Pradeep Shetty, President, FHRAI, says, “As the longest sea bridge in the country, it not only enhances Mumbai’s connectivity but also symbolizes the nation’s commitment to pushing boundaries in engineering excellence. It is poised to transform not only Mumbai’s landscape but also provide an unprecedented boost to tourism in Maharashtra. With improved connectivity, we foresee a significant surge in tourist footfall to Mumbai’s neighbouring tourism destinations like Lonavala, Matheran, Alibaug, Mahabaleshwar and other scenic locales across the state.”

Puri Jagannath Heritage Corridor project will be inaugurated on 17 January, 2024. The project with the investment of ₹3,700 crore aims at redevelopment of Shree Jagannath Temple with modern facilities and green buffer zone, and a reception centre for 6,00 devotees.

Kerala is all set to kick-start four international events in 2024. The events include International Paragliding Festival, Surfing Festival, International Mountain Cycling Championship, and Malabar River Festival. More than 15 countries will participate in these events, says State Tourism Minister.

Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has launched India’s first regenerative tourism model in the state. He said, “Goa has a rich cultural heritage including some temples known as South Kashi, and 11 spiritual sites in the coastal state would be promoted under the Ekadasha Teertha scheme.”

To attract more tourists, Andaman and Nicobar administration has taken initiatives, including granting access to uninhabited islands, allowing beaches to stay open till late night, development of a 5-star property at Megapode in Port Blair under PPP, and reaching out to more airlines.
