The event will mark the first time India hosts the prestigious international gathering, which will bring together more than 700 delegates from across the globe. With its scenic backdrop of lakes and gardens, Bhopal is set to provide an ideal setting for the convention with thematic gardens, technical sessions, cultural performances, and a showcase of tourism experiences from across the state. The official announcement was made at the 20th World Rose Convention, where Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) represented India. The delegation was led by Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary, Tourism, Culture, and Religious Trusts & Endowments Department, and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. During the closing ceremony, Shukla was ceremoniously handed over the WFRS flag, formally bestowing Madhya Pradesh with the responsibility of hosting the next edition of the convention. In a significant milestone, Sushil Prakash was elected as the new President of the World Federation of Rose Societies. He becomes the first Indian to be appointed to this prestigious post, further strengthening India’s global footprint in the horticultural and floriculture sector. Addressing the Madhya Pradesh Global Investor Summit in Bhopal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that three sectors – textiles, tourism and technology- are “crucial” for India’s development as they will create more new jobs. He added that to boost the manufacturing sector, the government is strengthening local supply chains and promoting self-reliance, especially for MSMEs.

Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) Annual Convention is set to kick off in Bhopal today. With over 1,000 participants expected, the convention aims to generate significant takeaways for IATO’s membership, advance inbound tourism for Madhya Pradesh, and enhance the marketing of the state’s destinations in alignment with state government policies.

As the 39th IATO Convention is set to take place in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, the association records 300 registrations within the first few days. More than 1,000 delegates from all over India are expected to take part in the convention. The key focus will be to promote the lesser-known destinations in Madhya Pradesh through post-tour activities.

Rajnish Kaistha, Sr. Vice President, IATO said, “With the blessings of the government and the CM, the 39th IATO Annual Convention is scheduled to be held in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal from 30 August to 2 September 2024. The idea is to bring better connectivity to Bhopal and put it onto the global tourist map.”

IndiGo has announced daily non-stop flights from Agra to Bengaluru, Bhopal an Lucknow respectively. The new flights will be effective from @8th March, 2021. The news was welcomed by the travel trade in Agra.

Beginning January 6, 2019, SpiceJet will operate direct flights on Bhopal-Jaipur, Bhopal-Ahmedabad, Bhopal-Hyderabad, and Bhopal-Shirdi routes. The airline will also start direct flight services on the routes of Shirdi-Bengaluru, Shirdi-Jaipur, Shirdi-Bhopal and Shirdi-Ahmedabad and will also add additional frequency on the Shirdi-Hyderabad route.

With its focus on adventure tourism by combining marketplace, meetings and networking opportunities, nearly 200 delegates took part at the first-ever ongoing ‘AdventureNEXT’ in Bhopal, also including participants from abroad. Suman Billa, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism; Swadesh Kumar, President, ATOAI and Akshay Kumar, Chairman, AdventureNEXT committee graced the event. The convention was witnessed by global buyers, international/national media representatives, sellers and office bearers of the Adventure Tour Operators Association, hotels, hospitality and tour operators who came to expand their knowledge spectrum and itinerary offerings. IndiGo has introduced direct daily flights between Bhopal-Hyderabad and Jabalpur-Hyderabad. In Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal and Jabalpur will be the second and third cities the airline will be flying to, after Indore. Additionally, the airline will also operate its fourth daily return flight between Hyderabad-Tirupati. All new services will commence effective January 2019. William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo said, “We are pleased to announce Bhopal and Jabalpur as our 65th and 66th destination effective January 2019. We will operate daily flights from Bhopal and Jabalpur to connect these cities with Hyderabad. We will also be introducing a fourth daily return flight between Hyderabad and Tirupati.” Boulter further added, “IndiGo will continue to expand its network to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers wherever they demand it. It is our constant endeavour to provide more flexibility of choice to our customers as IndiGo continues to offer them on-time, courteous and hassle-free service, and an affordable flying experience always.” The introduction of these flights will bring Bhopal and Jabalpur closer to other cities of India with all-inclusive fares starting from Rs 1999.
